Artist in Coexistence (AiC) är en plats för konstnärligt utforskande ur ett posthumanistiskt perspektiv för kreativa ur alla konstnärliga discipliner. Ett residens hos AiC innebär att du arbetar i nära relation med platsen och i ett utforskande samarbete med mer-än-människa, för att öppna upp för nya tankemönster och föreställningar om samexistens mellan människa och mer-än-människa. Du som konstnär skall vara nyfiken på hur ett posthumanistiskt perspektiv kan berika din egna konstnärliga praktik men också på hur ditt arbete kan bidra till förändring i riktning mot en hållbar planetär samexistens.
Vad ingår i vårt residens?
Residenset har några förväntningar på dig:
- En stillsam plats i naturen för arbete och tanke
- Introduktion till platsen och gemensam middag vid ankomst
- Handledning och avstämning efter önskemål under residensperioden
- Arbetsplats i nyuppförd ateljé (ca 20m2,4–5m takhöjd + fördjupningsdel inkl. litet bibliotek på temat)
- Logi på loftet i ateljén (160 cm säng, sovplats för 1–2 personer)
- Dusch, toa och tvättmaskin i separat byggnad
- Enklare kök för matlagning i ateljén
- Tillgång till cykel
- Arbetsstipendium på 10.000 SEK (faktureras)
- Materialbudget upp till 5.000 SEK
- Reseersättning ingår inte
Residenset har några förväntningar på dig:
- Att du delger bitar ur din process/arbete genom exempelvis ett publikt konstnärssamtal eller en workshop med inbjudna deltagare
- Att vi får berätta om dig och ditt arbete i våra kommunikationskanaler
- Att du själv tar med dig specifika material eller verktyg du önskar använda

Det finns fyra residensperioder hos AiC, en per årstid. Varje period är på ca två veckor, och fastställs i dialog med residensperson.
Vår – uppvaknandet, start 12/4
Sommar – vibrerandet, start 17/6
Höst – nedbrytningen, start 20/9
Vinter – vilan, start 22/11
Utöver dessa perioder av residens i egen regi hyr vi också ut vår ateljé och plats till enskilda konstnärer eller samverkansparter som vill förlägga residens hos oss. Hör av dig!
HUR
Ange i din ansökan vilken årstid du helst önskar arbeta med. Din ansökan skall innehålla en projektidé som du vill utforska och arbeta med under din residensperiod, och en kort biografi om dig och din bakgrund. Max 1 sida inkl. text och ev. bild. AiC ligger på ön Orust i Bohuslän i havet Skagerrak. Orust ligger i närheten av Uddevalla och Stenungsund och ca 1 timme norr om Göteborg. Det är ca 4 km till centralorten Henån där det mesta finns i service (två mataffärer, bibliotek, apotek, restauranger, bussterminal, etc.). Om du anländer till Orust med buss så ordnar vi transport till och från bussterminalen till AiC. Tillgång till cykel ingår.

Artist in Coexistence (AiC) is a platform for artistic exploration from a posthumanist perspective for creatives from all artistic disciplines. A residency at AiC means that you work in close relationship with the site and in an exploratory collaboration with more-than-human, to open up new patterns of thought and notions of coexistence between human and more-than-human. You as an artist should be curious about how a posthumanist perspective can enrich your own artistic practice but also how your work can contribute to change towards a sustainable planetary coexistence.
What is included in our residency?
Expectations of you from the residency:
- A peaceful place in nature to work and think
- Introduction to the site and a shared dinner on arrival
- Guidance and feedback as desired during the residency period
- Workplace in a newly built studio (approx. 20m2, 4–5m ceiling height + immersion area incl. small library on the theme).
- Accommodation in the loft in the studio (queen size bed, sleeping space for 1-2 people)
- Shower, toilet and laundry machine in separate building
- Simple kitchen for cooking in the studio
- Access to a bicycle
- Working grant of 10,000 SEK (to be invoiced)
- Material budget of up to 5,000 SEK
- Travel costs are not covered by AiC
- We welcome international artists, but all documents such as visas or other travel documents are the responsibility of the artist
Expectations of you from the residency:
- That you share parts of your process/results through, for example, a public artist talk or a workshop with invited participants
- That we can talk about you and your work in our communication channels
- That you bring specific materials or tools you wish to use
